With a rich 300 year history, Charleston is America's most beautifully preserved architectural and historical city, often called a "living museum". SOUTH CAROLINA HOTELS ATTRACTIONS Abbeville Located in South Carolina’s Old 96th District, Abbeville is regarded by some as the Cradle and the Grave of the Confederacy. It is home to the Burt-Stark House where President Jefferson Davis formally disbanded the Confederate armies. Aiken Located in the heart of Thoroughbred Country, one of Aiken’s major attractions is the Thoroughbred Racing Hall of Fame. Other attractions include its three historic districts, and the DuPont Planetarium. Beaufort Part of South Carolina's Treasured Coast including Beaufort, Hilton Head Island and Bluffton, this is one of the low country resort islands with a historic district. One of the attractions is the Beaufort Arsenal Museum. Near Beaufort, on St. Helena Island, is Penn Center, established during the Civil War as the first school for freed slaves in the South. Also nearby is Hunting Island State Park, a large secluded barrier island with an historic 1859 lighthouse as its centerpiece and semi-tropical plants and wildlife. BEAUFORT HOTELS Charleston This aristocratic colonial port boasts 73 pre-Revolutionary buildings and attractions including Ft Moultire and Ft Sumter, the Old Exchange and Provost Dungeon, and the Slave Mart Museum. Darlington This is the Mecca for NASCAR fans and home to the Joe Weatherly NMPA Stock Car Hall of Fame. MOUNT PLEASANT HOTELS Murrell's Inlet This small, picturesque fishing village is home to Brookgreen Gardens with the country’s largest collection of outdoor sculptures. MURRELL'S INLET HOTELS Myrtle Beach This is one of the most popular vacation destinations in the United States with attractions including the Myrtle Beach Pavilion Amusement Park, Ripley's Believe it or Not and Ripleys Aquarium, Myrtle Waves Water Park, Wild Water and Wheels, and the Family Kingdom Amusement Park. Other attractions include the IMAX Discovery Theater, the Children's Museum of South Carolina, Medieval Times, and the 26-acre NASCAR SpeedPark. MYRTLE BEACH HOTELS North Myrtle Beach The City, located on the Atlantic Ocean along the South Carolina coastal area known as the "Grand Strand, is a consolidation of several beach communities. Attractions include the entertainment complex, Barefoot Landing , Alligator Adventure and Myrtle Beach Grand Prix Family Thrill Parks, both north and south, each featuring a variety of racing cars and tracks. NORTH MYRTLE BEACH HOTELS Orangeburg Many old homes and churches in Orangeburg County have survived time and are steeped in the history of area. The Ediso Memorial Gardens is home to more than 70 variety of roses. Nearby, south of Orangeburg at Cope, visitors can experience cotton ginning and follow the crop from field to bale at Vallentines. ORANGEBURG HOTELS Rock Hill Known for its gardens and manicured landscapes, Rock Hill’s attractions include the Museum of York County and the Catawba Cultural Center with exhibits and a video about the Catawba Indian Nation. Near Rock Hill is Historic Brattonsville, a 720-acre living history village and Revolutionary War battlefield site. ROCK HILL HOTELS Santee Located in South Carolina’s Santee Cooper Country, which has Lakes Moultrie and Marion at its heart, the Santee National Wildlife Refuge is frequented by migrating waterfowl.
