pets (dogs and cats) looking for hotel accommodation

Pet Travel Tips

1: Always double check with the hotels/accommodations to make sure that pets are CURRENTLY welcome. Some establishments change their policies without warning.

2: Plan ahead and make sure you know where to find emergency veterinary clinics in your vacation area.

3: For road trips, consider the specially produced harnesses (also known as canine auto restraint equipment) for dogs. For cats, the alternative of a cat carrier (secured with a seat belt) is a safer way to transport your feline friend.

4: Some pets may benefit from vet recommended travel sickness medications and/or tranquilizers.

5: DO NOT leave your pet in your car in hot or even warm weathers - no matter how brief the period.

Dogs are the most common type of pet to take along (78%), with cats a distant second (15%), according to the TIA. In addition, of the people who said that a hotel's pet policy made an impact on their decision of where to stay, 35% said it was the most important factor in their decision.
