Mississippi Pilgrimage Tours

Vicksburg's twice-yearly Pilgrimage Tours lets visitors step back in time through the doors of its many resplendent Antebellum and Victorian homes and gardens.

The annual Spring Pilgrimage (March/April) and the Fall Pilgrimage (October) lets them relive an era when cotton was king and steamboats tamed the Mississippi River.

Each Pilgrimage home is privately owned and occupied, with most listed on the National Register of Historic Places.

The Pilgrimage Tours are among Mississippi’s major attractions. As the state’s largest, most cosmopolitan city at the time of the War Between the States, Vicksburg’s architecture is among the most diverse in the state. The 47-day Siege of Vicksburg in 1863 was a pivotal point in the War, a piece of American history wonderfully captured at the Vicksburg National Military Park.

Other Vicksburg’s annual events are the Mardi Gras Parade and Ball (February); The Run Through History (March); Riverfest (April); Arts and Crafts Show (April and October); and Civil War Living History (May and July).
