Michigan: Mackinac Island

This is the USA's truly "all natural" theme park, a picturesque summer resort still steeped in the 19th century. Limited to transportation of horse and buggy, bicycle or foot, surrounded by water, the automobile has yet to intrude.

When you step off the Island Ferry Dock, you will be in a living Victorian village. Explore the historic Fort Mackinac, Michigan's only Revolutionary War era fort, enjoy the hustle and bustle of the downtown, try the different varieties of homemade fudge for which Mackinac Island is famous.

Michigan history is resurrected and preserved in Mackinac State Historic Park at a string of three settlements: Colonial Michilimackinac, historic Fort Mackinac, and Historic Mill Creek which was established in 1790 as the first industrial settlement providing finished lumber to neighboring Mackinac Island

Mackinac Island is home to three great golf courses and one executive putting course.

Visitors will find hotel accommodations ranging from economical to extravagant.
