Adam Thoroughgood House is a restored brick home from the 17th century. A prime example of early Virginia architecture, it consists of four partially furnished rooms and a garden out back. The Battle of The Capes monument shares a place at Fort Story with the First Landing Site, a memorial marking the first landing of the Jamestown settlers in 1607. Mount Trashmore is, as the name implies, made of trash. This former landfill was covered with soil years ago and is now one of the highest and steepest hills in the Hampton Roads area.
